Hair removal for PCOS and Hirsutism
Folks who are dealing with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome often deal with side effects like excessive male pattern hair growth due to excess androgens and an imbalance in their hormones, which can be extremely frustrating. While you do not need a doctor's note to come see me for hair removal treatment, it is best to be under the care of a physician who can help you regulate the underlying cause of the hair growth. (Accelerated hair growth is only a symptom of PCOS.) We are able to permanently remove the hairs that are already dark and growing coarser, and this can go a long way towards making those persons more comfortable in their appearance and presentation!
As a word of caution: unless you are also seeking treatment to balance your hormones, it can feel like chasing your tail since vellus hairs (“peach fuzz”) will continue to convert into terminal hairs (dark, coarse) due to the excess androgens continuing to stimulate further the conversion.
Hirsutism, much like PCOS, is excessive hair growth on unexpected areas of the body, such as on the face, chest, and back. Hirsutism can result from excess androgenic hormones. This may occur with certain medical conditions and/or it may also be inherited. We can work together and create a plan to eliminate any unwanted hair.
